Importing offline settings back to exchange

Somehow my profile got stepped on on our exchange server
and as a result all my outlook settings and contact list
are gone. There is an offline file (.ost) on my machine
from before this happening. Is there a way to bring this
back to exchange? When I try to use it and go offline
outlook says I must connect to the exchange server once
before working offline and when I do it creates an
outlook0.ost file, so the original file is never used.
Looks like the exchange knows the original is from the
previous prifile. Any info appreciated.

If you had not tried to connect and just stayed offline, you could have
exported your .ost file to a .pst file and used that to restore your Outlook
items. As it is now, your information is pretty much toast.

Is there a utility to convert the ost on my drive to a
pst? Seems that the only reason it won't open my ost is
because the profile name is different. Shoul I have our
admin recreate the original profile name and assign it to
me so I mathc the old ost on my drive? Whe have tape
backups - what about restoring my mbx and settings to the
exchange server from tape - is this possible?

You can create your own profile matching the old name using the Mail applet
in Control Panel. However, the ost file's name has no bearing on the
profile name.
