Importing Messages

I am trying to import Outlook Express messages from my
old computer to my new one. I have gone through the
export process in Express 5.0 on my old computer and
created a .PST file. But when I copy that file to my new
computer and try to import it into Express 6.0 I see that
there is no menu option to import version 5.0 files and
none of the other options work. I get this error
message: "No messages can be found in this folder or
another application is running that has the required
files open. Please select another folder or try closing
applications that may have files open. "

Anyone have a suggestion? The Express Support page
mentions the fault but offers no workable solution.

That's because you don't export OE messages to a PST file in order to import
them to OE6. PST files are for Outlook, not Outlook Express.

Ask Outlook Express questions in an Outlook Express newsgroup.

(Hint: no export/import needed. You just need to get your message store
directory set correctly.)
