When I import a jpg file from my 5 MP digital camera the resolution is reduced. The pictures lose their resolution when expanded to full screen. Is there a way to maintain the original resolution on my photos?

When we preview the timeline it is done at a resolution of 320x240 for
various performance reasons. If you publish the timeline at a higher quality
setting for example using 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 then you'll get a higher
resolution then the preview but that's still substantially less than your
5MP camera of course. You can create custom profiles to get MovieMaker to
publish at higher resolutions but even if you could create a video which
matches the resolution of your camera then you wouldn't be able to find a PC
fast enough to play it back today (remember that even 720p HDTV resolution
is still 1280x720).

Depending upon what you want to do with your photos, you may also want to
check out PhotoStory. It will produce video from your photos with pans,
zooms etc.
