importing from laptop to desktop

when importing data from xp home on laptop the numerical
data decimal changes to a comma
for example data entered on excel 2000 laptop $45.89
when imported by cd to desk top excel 2000 it show $45,89.

This happens also on MYMSN stock check dollars and cents
show for example unit price of stock 72.45 shows
72,45 on my home page (XP home Desktop)

what have i done wrong?
 
It sounds like you use a different a decimal symbol on each pc.

Maybe you can just "fix" the wrong one via:

Windows Start Button|Settings|Control Panel|Regional Settings Applet
Number Tab|Decimal Symbol
