Hi,
I recently upgraded my OS from Windows 98 Second edition to XP professional. One problem, I created the partition using NTFS. I have installed all the new programs and cannot see any of the old data, is there still an issue with WIN32 and NTFS? Is there a way around this?

Thanks

your question makes no sense?

XP can read and Win98 partition and NTFS. Win98 cannot read NTFS but you
upgraded so no longer have Win98?

Thanks for your answer Wayne. I no longer have Win 98 installed on my PC. I did a complete install of XP, there used to be an issue with NTFS and FAT32 (sorry) file systems not being compatible. I was looking for a way to import the files from FAT32 to NTFS.

Thanks

Hi Wayne,

Import from where?
If you chose to format the existing partition as NTFS then that is exactly
what it did--it formatted the partition, destroying all existing data in the
process.

Thanks Larry. Sorry I guess I should have been more precise, I made back up copies of the data onto a separate disk and DVDs. Now I have formatted the partition NTFS and installed Windows XP prof. I reinstalled my applications and now I want to import the data back, but the applications no longer see the data.
Is there an issue with NTFS and FAT32 not being compatible, do I need a seaprate application like partition magic to import the data from FAT32 to NTFS so that my applications will recognize the data?

Thanks

Hi Wayne,

Have you tried copying the data back to the original location and accessing
it from there?

There is no issue of FAT32 and NTFS being incompatible.
The data is just that--data. It doesn't care what format the storage media
is in.

Thanks for your help Larry. I copied the data back to its original location and the application had a feature that allowed me to reimport the data.
Again, thanks.
