I have an Excel spreadsheet with 120 contacts and phone numbers. When I
import to Outlook 2002, the phone numbers do not come close to being the same
as the ones in Excel. I map fields, have tried to change Excel formats.
Even more baffling is the Radio Phone field does not recoginize Nextel Id's
with * in them.
Thanks in advance!

What is different between the phone numbers in Excel and what is imported
into outlook?

As far as I can tell nothing. I've tried these formats in Excel, "5551234567"
"(555) 123-4567", "555 123 4567", but the output in Outlook isn't even close.
In Excel I've formatted the cells as text, general, number, special -
telephone and still get the same results in Outlook

Sounds very much like your phone fields are being treated as numeric fields
and translated as such which would also explain the "*" issue (the
multiplier symbol).

If none of the Excel reformatting is working for you then the quickest other
solution to try is to export your worksheet into CSV format and import that
file.
