I have been trying to import some contacts I have saved in excel and it keeps
coming up with an error message saying "Use Microsoft Excel to name the range
of data you want to import". Have looked up help in excel and am still not
sure what this means and how I rectify it. I have imported from excel before
and never had this problem. Is it just the latest version that has this
error message???

Please help!!!

Thanks Yvette

Try this - create a few Outlook contacts with the information you want to
use from Excel. Export that file to Excel. Compare the 2 files and massage
yours accordingly.

When importing from Excel, you're required to create a "Named Range" within
Excel covering the data that you want to import including the header row
(which is what the message is telling you to do). Once that's done - you
should be all set. If you're not comfortable with Excel's "Named Ranges" -
simple solution is to save the worksheet as a CSV file and import that into
Outlook.

In Excel, select the data you want to import and the row containing the
column headings. Choose Insert | Name | Define and give the selected range a
name. Save the file. It should now be ready to import.
