importing an excel file to outlook 2000 address book

Hi there, I'm trying to import an address book that I
created in excel into my address book in outlook. The
problem is when I go to file import in my address book, it
is greyed out. When I try to import through the file menu,
I can only put it in my contacts folder which is not
exactly what I want. Is there anyway I can import directly
to my address book?
 
The address book displays your Contacts folder. You must use File | IMport
and Export to import into a contacts folder.

Save the excel file as a CSV or TAB file (File -> Save As) and then
manually map the fields...
