Importing account from Outlook Express

I imported an account from Outlook Express, and it worked fine for one day.
Today, when I send/receive the server is rejecting my password, but only for
smtp, not for pop3. My ISP quickly decided it is a problem with Outlook,
since I tested Outlook express (after comparing the settings to confirm them)
and it works fine.

Any ideas?

Does your outgoing (SMTP) mail server require authentication? Most do. Is
your outgoing server set for it, if it is required?
