importing a database from excel to outlook

I have a database in excel and i am trying to transfer it into outlook,
unfortunately it keeps giving me the following message.

An error has occurred in the Microsoft Excel translator while getting the
contents of a file system.

The Microsoft Excel file "C:\Documents and Settings\Computer
1\Desktop\CONSTRUCTION BEST PRACTICE CLUB\Database\Master List (e-mail
only).xls" has no named ranges. Use Microsoft Excel to name the range of
data you want to import.

I have done the reverse of creating a contact and exporting it to ensure i
get the correct field names and it still won't let me do it.

Any suggestions?
 
But did you create a named range in the worksheet, as the warning instructs?
