The import/export functions in my address book are inactive. I am Office
Premium 2000 and Windows XP. I have not installed SP 2 yet. These functions
were OK until I ran the "detect and repair" function in the Outlook Help
menu. Any suggestions?

The Outlook Address Book has never been the interface for data entry or
import. The Contacts Folder is. Import and Export will always be inactive in
the Address Book interface, and always has been.

Thanks for your help. I did export my address book to a floppy disc and it
looks just like the one in the computer. The file is address book.WAB. I
had to do a restore on my computer and was able to directly reload my address
book from this file. As I recall, I exported it from the export function in
address book.

Again, you'll need to check your own memory.
Outlook has never used the WAB.
Outlook Express does--completely different program not related to Outlook.

You're right. I was using Outlook Express when I exported the address book
as a .WAB file. However, now when I open up OE address book, the
import/export functions are inactive. Any suggestions as to how I can
activate them again?
Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

No. I've never used OE, and it is in no way related to Outlook.
This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
outlook express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x

A good website for information on OE is:
