Can I import a distribution list created by a colleague
into my contacts without having to recreate it?

Have them send it to you as a Outlook Item in a message in RTF format.

How do I then import it into my contacts?

Then you'll need to make sure the message format is RTF and that they
inserted it as an Outlook Item, not some other file type. Also make sure you
