import a gantt chart from MS Project to MS Word

From MS Project into Word? Its the app that matters, not the document
type.

Generically, if you want the raw data in column form you will need to
use a CSV file or similar, if you want just the graphic, look for save
as RTF, HTML or some sort of graphics format.

In Project, use the Camera Icon to take a "picture" of the graphical
view, including but not limited to the Gantt Chart, for saving or
pasting (via clipboard) into Word or other container applications that
can receive a graphic image. Read more about this in Project's Help.
