Hi all, I put a new Western Digital 40gb HDD in a Compaq 5000T about a month
ago. Yesterday when trying to boot it wouldn't come up and said Iminent
Harddrive Failure. Tried safe mode and it just tried rebooting and had the
same message. From what little I've read about that worm, I don't think
that's it. I've already replaced that HDD with the original 10gb HDD so user
could do schoolwork. I've read in this forum before about some programs that
may can rescue data off a bad HDD. Thanks for anybody that can tell me one
of these. I've never had reason to go inside my Gateway 700 yet, but for
what I paid for it I would hope it has a bay for a 2nd HDD. If it does,
could I install that 40 on here and try to rescue data that way. Both have
XP Pro installed. Thnx.

To rescue data off a hard drive you need a second hard drive, of sufficient
capacity, to hold the files you want to recover.

Go to www.ontrack.com and look at EasyRecovery Professional.
