Resentaly about 3 or 4 weeks ago when I shut down XP home.
I get a box stating that IMAPP.exe(I think its speled
right) is not responding. it then asks If it should be
shut down. About the same time I started haveing a
problem with a online game(that I have played for over a
year and half on this system) of for lack of a better
way to say it chugging. The Game is a heavy graphics
game but It has ran fine for over a year. Yes I have all
updates to Direct x. Any Ideas of what could be wrong. I
have tried using system restore to a time thatthere was
not a problem.

Start with Disk Cleanup and then Defrag. You should have about
400-500MB free space on the hard drive, so removing unneeded programs is
a good idea if there is limited free space. Download Ad-Aware and
Spybot Search and Destroy (Google for them) and run both.
