Imapi cd-burning com service

Cannot start Imapi cd-burning com service in Administrative Tools/Services. Device manager for cd-rw indicates that it is ok. I have uninstalled drivers for cd-rw and secondary IDE and rebooted so that XP can discover new hardware and install drivers. Imapi still would not restart in manual or automatic. When attempting to burn a cd, XP Wizard performs the process and indicates that the cd was burnt, but it is actually blank. The cd-rw drive performs all read functions ok.
 
Did you look in C:\Windows\System32\Imapi.exe. See if you can start it
from there. Do a system file check
Start>Run type: sfc /scannow with the Winxp Cd in the cdrom
drive.
