I am using IMAP to get emails from several of my e-mail accounts. All of them
are using secure incoming server setting (port 993). However, their
certificates are not verified (I guess certificates are developed in house,
or whatever) and thus evrytime I open Outlook it gives me a warning messge
that the certifiacte is not verified blah blah. Is there anyway to get rid of
these warnings by installing the certificate anyway (I mean anyway even if
they are not verified!)
Thanks,
Cengiz

Did you try installing the certificate?

I may have been mistunderstood, I am not talking about an individual's or my
security certificates (tools>options>security>settings>certificates and
algorithms) but certificate for a server. If you mean to install it how? As
OL2003 does not ask me whether I want it to be installed. I know, for
example, in IE when you browse a page on a secure server it asks you if you
want it to be installed whether or not it is not verified. But I have not
seen such a warning message box in OL2003.
And strangly enough the warning message I am talking about opens up twice in
my home computer but once for each server at work! :-)

"OK I think I have found it! As I have written about IE I thought it should
be installed through IE not OL. And then I found my server's root certificate
and installed it. However, I am not sure if I did it correctly. I don't get
the ususal warning message but this time a message saying "The certificate's
CN names does not match the passed value. Do you want to continue using this
server?"

Asking my question to this forum caused me to think it differently and with
the help of your suggestion I figured it. OL uses the root certificate
installed through the IE (why?) I then install the root certificate my
organization provided. However, because there was a problme with the
certificate the second problem appeared and after consulting with them
everything is now solved!
Thanks for your help,

You're most welcome - I think you actually fixed the problem all by
yourself!

Friends,

i am trying to write a little application that will send HTML mails
with images embedded in them. By default Outlook (and Thunderbird) will
not display the graphics. Is there any way to "sign" the images/email so
that Outlook trust the content and displayes even if that feature is not
activated by the user?

Thanks.

I certainly HOPE not.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Julian asked:
