Images - paint pro

I cant seem to open any saved images off the net.... i've tried saving them as gif and bitmap files, using paint and paint pro and non of them open :(
anyone else heard of this error before?
It's only images off the net, i can view images from cd and from digital camera..

Many images are .jpg. The file SAVE type often is chosen automatically.
What images; what URLs, specifically?
