I'd like to import an 8 1/2" x 11" jpg image into an exel 2000 spreadsheet
and be able to enter data into the cells and still see the image underneath.
Is this possible and how do I do it.

In Excel, I inserted the image and then hit the Set Transparent Color.
If you tab through the cells from outside the image, you can type over
the image but of course the Set Transparent Color changes my original
image color.

What is the best way to create a dummy statement using a scanned image
that I can then type my data and color print?

You could try: format / sheet / background.... It won't print, but it will display the way you
want.

Welllllll, not exactly. A sheet background image is put on the screen
actual size (pixel for pixel), tiled from the upper left corner. You can't
move it around. Changing zoom doesn't change the size. Changing the screen
resolution does, I think.
