Our testing group is using Drive Image 7.0 to reimage test PCs. When they
created the image, the computer was part of the AD. Now when it is reload
using the image, it can not connect to the servers. I know that the computer
password for the AD is out of sync. Can this be fixed using the NETDOM util?
When i try i get the following error message -Logon Failure: The target
account name is incorrect.I have tried various admin accounts, but still get
the same error message. Is there another way to do this?

The only way I know is to have the PC leave the Domain,
and delete the Computer from the AD.

Then Join the Domain again.

Basically, it is considered a *really bad idea* to create
an image with a PC already part of a Domain.

Any other thoughts?

You should run the SYSPREP utility *BEFORE* imaging the PC's....

If you simply images PC's without running sysprep (or some equivalent) - they
end up with the same machine SID - and you can then get in a real mess -
especially with security...

OK. So they will have to recreate the image. But how do I get the machines
added to the domain with out visiting the PC every time? I have not had much
luck with NETDOM. But that could be related to the machine having a messed
up SID. I do not want to give them administrator rights to the AD to
add/remove PC accounts.

Would it be better to create an OU and give them rights to add/remove PCs in
that OU?

If you use SYSPREP in conjunction with an answer file I'm pretty sure you
can make the machines automatically rejoin the domain.

That said, creating an OU with delegated privileges is better from a
management point of view.
