I've tried all the controls, but I can't get the image to fill the monitor
from edge to edge. Win2k on a brand new 17" Viewsonic monitor. Using 800 X
600, High Color (16 bit). TIA PaulG

To fill an 800 x 600 desktop with one image you need an 800 x 600 image. If
the image needs size modification / stretch then use Paint (distortion may
occur) to modify bmp.

CRT monitor or LCD? All the controls? Software AND Hardware controls?
Did you change the refresh rate? On CRT there is a small band just
inside the edge of the bezel that is coated and can not be seen thru.
Reread all the instructions that came with it.

CRT. Sorry it was unclear. I meant the desktop when I referred to the
image. What software controls are you referring to? I opened the monitor's
on screen control panel and adjusted the image the same as I've done to tens
of monitors before, and it just won't fill the entire screen area. There's
a black area about half a centimeter or so all around the desktop. TIA

If you slide the image side to side does it disappear at the .5 cm line?
If so that is the small band I refer to. As far as "software", you can
adjust the frequency the screen refreshes andf that will cause some
shifting in the image. To play there-R-click Desktop, Properties,
Settings, Advanced, Monitor, Refresh Frequency.
