You're running WindowsXP and do not have the XP installation/OS disk?
Where did you buy your PC for that is illegal!!! The XP installation disk
stays
with the PC it was installed on, even when you sell yours. Your friends
don't have it either? You're all in deep trouble according to Bill Gates and
company. In fact,
you're paying the price right now.
BTW: Check your harddrive for a file called BIN. The files may be in there.

You are so sadly mistaken. I suggest you learn a little about OEM. And by the
way, the vast majority of computers have OEM versions of windows.

Byte,

You are obviously uninformed as to how Windows installations are provided by
computer manufacturers. The license requires the Mfg. to provide a method of
restoring the OS to "as purchased" condition. How this is done is up to the
OEM. It can be either a full XP disk, an OEM disk, or a restore partition on
the hard-drive.

Hi ZaraLou,

Sorry to say, you will probably have to reinstall your operating system. By
the fact that you were not provided with a CD, you must have a restore
partition on your hard-drive that will perform this task. See the
documentation that came with the PC or contact the manufacturer of the PC
for instructions. Before reinstalling, backup any files that are important
to you. After reinstalling the operating system, either purchase an
anti-virus program or download and install one of the free ones from the
internet. The following link is to AVG, a free one that many people use,
including myself.
