What wireless technology does PDA Palm Trio 650 use to allow
internet access almost anywhere?

What wireless technology do notebooks use to gain internet
access at many hot-spots?

Is Bluetooth the same as 802.11a or b or g?

Doing a Google search for this criteria "wireless technology does
PDA Palm" brings up these groups.

comp.sys.palmtops.pilot
comp.sys.palmtops.* (1 group)
alt.comp.sys.palmtops.pilot
comp.dcom.telecom.* (1 group)

Just in case you aren't satisfied with the answers you get here.

Digital cell phones (as opposed to the older analog) are already, well,
digital so it was not a giant leap to interface them into the internet via
the phone service provider. As such you have an Internet connection
anywhere you could place a call, I.E. within range of a compatible cell.

It ain't cheap, especially considering it's rather slow.

access at many hot-spots?

802.11a or g.

Someone, bar, store, sports stadium, whoever, has to provide the wireless
access point, with an Internet connection, and it usually costs to access it.

A new 'sport' of 'hunting' for open wireless access points is evolving.

No. Bluetooth is a different standard for wireless connection of 'devices'
in a short range, 10 meters or so, local network. Bluetooth is about 1 mbps.

802.11a is a different frequency from 802.11b/g, 5GHz, and mainly business
oriented.

802.11b/g are both in the 2.4GHz band and compatible with each other.
