Will someone call me up and tell me how to do this with a cable modem and
wireless router.

IIS is a component only available with Windows XP Professional.

1. Open XP's "Help and Support Center"
2. In the Search box type: IIS , and hit enter.
3. Click on "IIS Installation" and follow the instructions.

You may wish to visit the IIS newsgroup and repost your question:

Heck with it. They want to charge me $245 to help me. I can get a years worth
of web hosting for that.

If you have XP Pro, IIS is installed in
Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components.
IIS is the fifth category. Highlight it and click on Details to view the
components and checkmark the ones you want.

If your are trying to host a website then that subject is probably beyond
the scope of this newsgroup.

Do you have DSL or cable? If so, you will have an ever changing IP address
and the website will not work. To make this work, go to Sitelutions.com
and create a free account. Use their DNS wizzard to setup your A
records. This will act as your DNS server. Next, go to the site where your
registered your site(ie godaddy.com) and point the nameservers to
sitelutions.com. Configure your router so the IP passthrough for port 80 go
to the IP address on your wireless network. I will probably be 192.168.0.3
+- a node or two. Lastly install a dynamic DNS client on your webserver
and point it back to sitelutions.com. Now everytime your IP address
changes, the client will change the DNS records on Sitelutions and your
website will always be alive. I use Dynsite client which can be found here
http://noeld.com/ . I host 7 websites on an NT4.0/IIS 4.0 using a single
dynamic IP address.
Hope this helps
