Hi, I have two questions...

Does Vista retain IIS.6 or is there a new version?

Would IIS come with the standard version of Vista? If not what verion would
it come with? In fact, how many versions of Vista are there?

hey! That's four question!

Thanks for any ideas

Windows Vista comes with IIS 7. I think it only comes in the Ultimate,
Business and Enterprise editions. There are 6 Vista SKUs.

Windows Vista does include a new version of IIS, version 7. 6 is not
included. IIS is not installed by default, you can install it by opening
Control Panel > Programs and Features > under "Task" click the "Turn Windows
features on or off" link > click the Internet Information Service link > OK.

You can then configure the component by going to Control Panel >
Administrative Tools.

There are six editions of Windows Vista, Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium,
Business, Enterprise and Ultimate.

Its in all.

Thanks, its nice to be back in the saddle after a great vacation. :)

Andre,

This does not work for me- I have Vista Home Basic. I did turn ON the IIS on
the Control Panel-Programs- Turn ON/OFF and I see the toggle checked for the
Internet Information Services.
Yet, I have no services to manage anywhere...
What am I doing wrong? What is missing?
BTW- I have the Visual Studion 2005 Express installed.

Thanks in advance

You have to enable the WWW Publishing Service, if it's there.

And, you need Vista Business, Enterprise or Ultimate, because IIS 7 comes
with Front Page Extensions on those versions, which is needed by VS 2005,
including Express, to develop Web applications.

You must also install the IIS 6 add-ins that come in the IIS 7 install,
otherwise, you won't be able to administer IIS 7 in some areas.
