i want to know the syntax for an if statement

i want the if statment to generate a "1", if the dates fall within the range
07/01/2002 - 06/30/2003 , if not, then "0"

thanks

This is what I answered to your original post on Sep 29

=(A1>="07/01/02"+0)*(A1<="06/30/03"+0)

an if statement would look like

=IF(AND(A1>=DATE(2002,7,1),A1<=DATE(2003,6,30)),1,0)

Function WhichDate(wDate as Date) as Long
Const myDate1 as Date = 07/01/2002
Const myDate2 as Date = 06/30/2003

If wDate > myDate1 And wDate < myDate2
WhichDate = 1
Else
WhichDate = 0
End If

End Function

One way, using a worksheet formula method:

Assume your date is in A1:

=--AND(A1>=DATEVALUE("6/30/2002"),A1<=DATEVALUE("7/1/2003"))

AND returns a TRUE or FALSE, the - converts the TRUE/FALSE to -1/0,
a second - converts -1/0 to 1/0.

Programming solution:

Dim myDate As Date
Dim result As Integer
myDate = Range("A1").Value
result = -(myDate >= DateValue("6/30/2002") And _
myDate <= DateValue("7/1/2003"))

VBA's True is equivalent to -1 so only one unary minus (-) is needed.
