I recently shut down my Windows XP Pro to add new RAM. Went from .75 to a
full gig of RAM. When I started back up with the new RAM installed I started
getting these messages that say (roughly) "the application iekr32.exe has
encountered a problem, Sent Microsoft Support an error message?" click OK or
Cancel. Clicking either button makes the dialog to away, but only
temporarily. It reappears in a few seconds, and the only way to get the
sytem to boot completely is to keep clicking either OK or Cancel repeatedly.
Eventually it goes away and stays away once the desktop is fully installed.
But that takes about 40-50 OK's or CANCELs.
I did a search to find out where iekr32.exe was coming from and it's located
in the Windows/PreFetch folder. I tried removing the iekr32.exe file, even
deleting it, but it always reappears! Some other boot ap must generate it.
Does anyone know what this iekr32.exe is? Or how to make it stop
interupting my boot sequence?
Thanks for ANY insight you can give.
