i have a older firewire card and i can,t get it to work in
xp i tried the drivers from win98 and win2000 it says
there a problem installing hardware the driver or inf file
may be written for win 95 or later.I know the card works
in win98.what can i do helppppp.don,t really want to buy a
new card.

What is the make and model of the card? Include a firmware version and
any other information you can find on the card with a follow if possible ;)

XP should already have the drivers built in. Don't try to install them from
a separate CD or floppy, let XP do it all by itself.

the card is adaptec aha-8940,on the main chip it says
adaptec
aic-5800ap
aqwa723
728511
bb8056.1
hong kong
on the another side of the card it says:fab 964007-00 rev g
okay then back to the side with the chip top right corner
it says assy 964006-04(the 04 is a little sticker under
the sticker it says 00)thats about it for any numbers
and when i put the card in xp tries to install drivers
for the aha-89xx 1394 pci host controller then a window
pops up says the drivers are,nt signed it gives me the
option to continue or quit install i choose continue, then
it says there was a problem installing device drivers may
be for windows 95 or later(and these are xp drivers hmmmm)
then in device manager it shows it there but with little
yellow circle with exclamation in centre of it thanks
again.

You could try these drivers, though the ones that are built into XP
should work. Try these though:

User: driver1
Pass: all
Same for everyone ;)
