I used the card on my old computer with Windows 2000
without any problems, now when I try it on Windows XP home
edition is get this message from the Texas Instruments
controller card. This device cannot start. (Code 10). I
have looked through the forum but there seems to be no
real solution. I dont want to install Windows XP SP2 cause
Ive got some much software that could cause my windows to
die because of it.

Any sggestions please???

Quick checklist: is the card seated correctly? Make sure you have current
drivers for that device. you're best bet is to get drivers from the
manufacturers website or if the firewire card was an OEM taken from a
pre-fab PC (Gateway, Dell, etc..) go to thier site and d/l drivers for it if
you can find out the model of the pc it was taken from.

So far, most of the USB and Firewire adapter I have seen have always used
the standard Xp drivers (SP1 or SP).

The controller card should install an "OHCI compliant" bus host
controller. Some very early firewire cards do not have "OHCI compliant"
drivers and are not XP-compatible. A firewire card that is XP
compatible is less that $20.
