Download Firefox and try it for yourself. Unless you like it, it doesn't
matter what anybody tells you.

For the record, I prefer IE8..

You've been told right but why don't you download, install and check it
out for yourself?

That's like saying I drive a Ford but I've heard Chevy's are better. Better
at what? Personally, I like the clean lines of IE7 and with tabbed browsing,
anti-phishing and tight OS integration, how can you go wrong?

I concur. I only use IE for those websites that
insist on doing things Microsoft's way, such as
some banking websites and Microsoft's own
website. I like the Bookmark Manager in
Opera, and I like Opers's relative obscurity -
it makes it a lesser target for virus writers.
There's also a version of Opera for Linux

Hi Frank,

Opera is basically FF. Opera has more "built-in" features and less
add-on support. FF is much more customizable with the use of add-ons.
So if one fits your needs more than another, that's all that matters.

Anything is better than IE, although MS may finally get a version right
if IE8 continues with being fully W3C compliant. It's time for the
risky A-X and MS only sites to be eliminated.

Hi Franktee,

IE is the file system. Breach IE and you have breached
your system. Right now there are so, so many exploits out
there for IE that it is insane to use it. If you do, you
will be infected in short order.

IE is a security nightmare. FF is security hardened.
And, FF pays $2,500.00 US for security bugs. Usually fixes
them in a few days, unlike months, years, and never with IE.

Do not use IE if you do not want to be infected.

Here is a great flash video of the new features in FF3.
It also goes over the new security features:

My two cents,

FF does not handle some secure web sites well as their certificates
need an exception.

IE 8 is still a Beta software. I'll wait for the full release before
using it on my main PCs.

Either one is good. You get a little more security using Firefox.

IE versions 6 or 7 have all been patched and are as secure as
any at the moment. NO infection in "short order".

This week. Maybe. Next week is another story. IE has a
long, long history of security problems. Use IE and you are
a sitting duck.

Use Windows (of any flavor) to surf the Net and you're a sitting duck,
be it with Chrome, Firefox, Opera or IE.

Not true at all. I use IE most of the time and FF some of the time.
Each has their good points and also FF can be even more hole-ridden than
IE if one isn't careful with the addons and configurations. It's more
about learning what you're doing and exposing than the product itself.
There are more secure browsers than either of those, in fact, but people
don't like them because they get their security by simply refusing to do
unsafe things. Knowledge is power, and that's what it takes to be
secure. I'm no gury by any means, but I try to keep up with things that
are going on . Using IE doesn't make one a sitting duck. NOT useing
security settings and programs makes you a sitting duck.

Twayne

Your systems security has more to do with you than the software you use. If
you have everything patched including plugins like Flash, Shockwave,
QuickTime, Acrobat Reader, have your browser properly configured and
practice safe surfing you will be as safe as you are likely going to get
regardless of the browser you use. If you are not regularily updating your
software then you are a sitting duck regardless of your choice in browsers.
Plugin attacks are more common than browser attacks these days.
