Yes. The first phase during the installation is downloading
updates for IE7 prior to running the MRT.EXE tool.

Before you install, please review important information here:

http://www.ie-vista.com/ - MVP Sandi Hardmeier
http://msdn.microsoft.com/ie/releasenotes/default.aspx - Release Notes
for IE7
http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=22165 - References, tips
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=55 - forum

Afterwards, post questions/comments about IE7 to its newsgroup:

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

There are a huge number of posts so of you have questions, it would be
smart to start by going to Google Groups Advanced Search. Use a search
term that describes your problem, constrain the search to the IE7
newsgroup and the date to very recently.

Hello,
I downloaded IE7 then set the third party firewall to stop all traffic in
and out.
Closed all running programs, AV, pop up stoppers etc.
Ran the setup, IE7 tried to call out three times then installed without
problem.
With Windows Media Player 11 it was necessary to be on line as it calls for
Windows confirmation.
This was my experience.
take care.
