IE7 desktop shortcuts won't work

If I create a desktop shortcut to an internet site or page, when I go back
to use it, it doesn't work. IE will attempt to open a page..the title bar
appears with the "Connecting..." message, but then it hangs and I get the
usual error message that IE has stopped responding. All the links do it,
within the same session and in subsquent instances.
What gives and how can I fix this please?

BJ,
This newsgroup deals with Microsoft Access, a relational database
development application.
Try this question in any of the many Internet Explorer newsgroups.

Well, when I plugged in "IE7 newsgroups" into the seach box in MS Help and
Support, this is where it took me. Guess y'all need a newsgroup for THAT
problem too....
Thanks

No, it took you to the online interface to the newsgroups and you just
clicked to proceed -- this happens to be the first newsgroup in the list.
You have to scroll to the actual newsgroup in which you want to participate.
If you don't pick one, you end up here. It could be that Microsoft needs to
rethink that online interface to make it more intuitive, but they don't need
a newsgroup for it.

It's always A Good Idea to read some of the posts in any newsgroup before
you post there. I'll wager you'd have found relatively few people who were
misled here continuing to post about IE7.

This newsgroup is for discussion of, and questions and answers about,
Microsoft Access database software, and you can get some outstandingly good
answers to questions about Microsoft Access. I'm certain there are multiple
Microsoft-sponsored newsgroups on the subject of IE7, where you'll stand a
much better chance of getting a useful answer.
