Folks

I have Win XP prof running IE6 with the latest SP2 installed.

I have noticed that IE6 isn't supporting GZIP compression. I log onto
webpages which are GZIPped and see
whether my Browser will negotiate decompression, but it isn't set on my HTTP
headers, therefore I am served
with un-compressed data.

Is there somewhere I can set this or update this or is there another problem
here?

Most likely the latter. E.g. certain firewalls are known to delete
or change the headers which IE sends with its requests.
FWIW on my XPsp2 I can still see Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
being sent by IE6sp2. I don't have a sample site which I can point
to which would take advantage of this notification.

I don't send E-mails because too often that courtesy has been misinterpreted as an invitation for a private discussion.
Anyone else has my permission to notify this poster or forward
this post to him.
