IE6 SP1 problem displaying GIFs intermittently

Seems like there are many people experiencing problems
with the IE6 browser w/ SP1 not displaying all the GIFs
on any given page. If I right click and display image,
the image appears (somtimes). If I refresh, the images
may or may not appear. If I open a new window and try
browsing another site, the GIFs all load properly while
the original still cannot. A site that tends to give me
this problem the most is:
http://www.microsoft.com/careers/default.aspx
The all the text would load but the status bar status
is "27 items remaining" and they're all GIFs. IE6 times
out and displays red Xs in place of images.

A thread here explains what people have done but the

I've also looked at

Anybody know how to fix this prob besides FFR?
How about how long will it take for M$ fix this?
 
Yes, Other pictures can show on the same page. Havent
noticed the problem on any sites with both JPGs and GIFs
though. Sometimes, only one picture will be loaded and
the rest are waiting to be downloaded. Sometimes the web
sites that have the GIF problems dont even want to load
at all; Not even the text shows. It ends up with the page
cannot be displayed error. I may have to end up waiting a
minute or two and then refresh and then it will load the
page with or without the GIFs. Very odd problem.
