IE6 SP1 "Page Cannot be Found" error

I recently (and quite wisely) Kazaa 2.6. Since I
uninstalled it, IE6 keeps giving me the "Page cannot be
displayed" message. I am using Zone Alarm but the problem
with IE exists whether or not ZA is engaged or not. I
previously uninstalled, also, the disruptive "HotsearchBar
that kept popping up a full screen pop-up over the main
window. The problem started after that uninstall as well.

I went to Microsoft's support site and went through the
database. By their reccomendation, I deleted the index.dat
file in the Content.IE5 folder but to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First run KazaaBegone:

If removing Kazaa hoses your connection:

Then check your system for "hijackware":

You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each and every
use, even "right out of the box". But even then, they can't catch
everything. When all else fails, HijackThis
(http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ [currently unavailable due to
ongoing DoS attacks] or the Spyware forum at http://forum.aumha.org/ for
expert analysis, not here.**

What to "fix"? Very generally:

- Ad-Aware: everything found
- CWShredder: everything found
- Spybot: items marked in red (but RTFM and create a backup first)

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

[Many anti-spyware sites continue to suffer from a week-long DoS attack.
Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page: http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm.]

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
