IE6 slow on INtranet site, Firefire is fast hough - why?

We have use a corperate Intranet. IE6 can take 5 - 10 to open this, firewall
and other browsers open it instantly.

If we run up a new XP or 2000 Pro PC IE 6 will open instantly, but over
months will slow down. How can I reset this, I have tried reinstalling it,
but no change.
