Hi guys.

I have a problem when replying to an email using outlook web access (exchange 2003). If i preview a message or open it, everything is ok. If I reply to it, ie6 will change the encoding (or something of the kind) of the enclosed message and some characters will be turned into something like japanese. I can't pinpoint when it started happening but it worked fine for several months. And when using other browsers such as mozilla the problem doesn't happen.

Tks in advance.

Look at the current encoding used by IE.
Menu: View/Encoding. Change it if using any other foreign language.

Tks for the tip. However, my settings only seem to work bad for some pages. If, for most of them, changing the encoding does the trick that is not the case for outlook web access because after changing the enconding of the "message reply" page I get an error 404 (page not found) instead of getting the same contents encoded in a different character set.

Again, thanks in advance for any help

There might be a workaround for that by saving the URL and manipulating it.
E.g. look at the link before you click on it and look at the result in your Address
bar. Perhaps a character needs to be escaped (converted to its hex equivalent
preceded by a percent sign) or an escaped character unescaped.

A related option to play with is (in Options, Advanced tab):

Always send URLs as UTF-8 (requires restart)

Looks like you might get better help from a newsgroup which specializes
in either of the other two products you have mentioned (Outlook or Exchange).
Presumbably they at least would be familiar with the products you are having
trouble with but still have sufficient knowledge about IE to help you.

Good luck
