i've been working with MS on this for a month or so with
no success, so i decided to ask if anyone else is having
a similar problem:
i often have more than one instance [copy] of IE6 open.
occasionally, not all the time but maybe a few times a
day, if i click a link in one window that opens a new
window, when i close the newer window, the last one
hangs. i can close it with Task Manager, but when i do,
it usually ALSO kills at least one other IE instance, and
i think it killed Outlook, too! if i have five IE6
windows open, returning to the "calling window", if you
will, will shut that one and usually only one more down.
i have no idea what started this, though it "feels like"
it happened after one of the software updates about a
month or two ago.
has this happened to you, and have you had any success in
fixing it?
thanks!

yeah, I hate when that happens. When I want to view a Web site and not have
it crash, I start a new 'iexplore.exe' process for it. That way, when the
other "threaded" IE windows crash, it only affects the parent and child
windows of that process, not the new process I'm using to view a Website
separately.
