IE6 Links problems

I'm running IE6 on windows 2000. Recently I'm finding that
links on some web sites do not work, for instance on my home page if I use
the search engine and say 'go', nothing happens.

I know that these links work as I have checked using another pc.
I gussing that something has changed on my settings to do with java scripts
but I don't know what.
What settings should I have ?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.
