IE6 - Full Download - Extraction from 'Stub'

Some time ago, Neo [mvp outlook] gave these instructions for downloading a
"full installation" for IE6:
Download the stub that you have found and then try this.
ie6setup.exe /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"

I've tried this a few times, in various ways, and can't get it to work.

I need to reinstall w2kpro, and want to be fully updated with IE6 before
connecting to the internet.

Would someone please explain better how to do this?

Also, It was a while since I tried (and failed) to do this... but I believe
I put the stub in a separate folder in the root of C:... could that have
been the cause of the failure? Should I be extracting this in some other
location?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

You should be able to the same by checking the advanced box from within the IE6SETUP.EXE
program.

HI Dave,

I tried your suggestion (as I understood it) and ran the IEsetup.exe again,
but there was no "advanced option" and I ended up reinstalling IE6-sp1 ...
and then had to reapply all the updates... :(

What I need to do is to download the FULL IE6 so that it can be installed
locally _without_ any internet connection.

Yeah, I made a mistake in my reply. I failed to mention that option is NOT shown on WinXP
or Win2k. Only when running IE6SETUP.EXE on Win98 or WinME.

Sorry....

Dave

Gee... thanks Dave ;)

Don't kick yourself too hard... my Outlook Express is working better as a
result... :P

But... I _STILL_ need to know how to extract the FULL IE6 intallation to
my local drive... I want to burn it to a CD and Install it from there... w/o
any internet connection what-so-ever.

Maybe you had your thinking-cap on backwards before? ...hahaha :))
Care to give it another try?

Thanks, as always....

Chris

Hi 'oops'

hmm... should I accept advice from someone with such an ID? :))

thanks for the URL... lots of great info there... maybe too much, because I
couldn't figure out how this helps me?

Regarding the Spyware, Malware, etc, covered in that page, I've got allot of
that covered... and am studying the rest...

Perhaps you posted the wrong URL?

Thanks,
Chris

Hope this makes you *****ingly* happy.

I use non Microsoft products wherever possible which requires no activation.

I use Netscape 7.2 as my default browser which has everything I need for my work.

I believe in good Financial Management!! I do not believe in enriching rich jerks!

Thanks very much Torgeir...
.... this looks exactly like what I'm looking for. :)

Chris,

To be honest, I posted a great link, no doubt, but not the one that could help you.

Hi 'oops'

hmm... should I accept advice from someone with such an ID? :))

thanks for the URL... lots of great info there... maybe too much, because I
couldn't figure out how this helps me?

Regarding the Spyware, Malware, etc, covered in that page, I've got allot of
that covered... and am studying the rest...

Perhaps you posted the wrong URL?

Thanks,
Chris

I put the stub in a separate folder in the root of C:... could that have
been the cause of the failure? Should I be extracting this in some other

Thanks in advance.
