I need some help with file associations using Windows XP Home SP1.

Here is what I managed to do:
a. I have installed Mozilla Firefox as my prime web browser.
b. I did not remove IE6 nor do I plan on doing so for obvious reasons.
c. I have ensured that web shortcuts launch FF9.
d. I have re-associated various file types to FF9.

Here is what I am having problems with:
When an application launches a browser, it still launches IE6.

I checked the file associations and they seem OK, although I suspect
that I am missing certain types.

So, can someone please share with me what are the file associations
that need to be changed so that Mozilla is the browser that is
launched from shortcuts or from other applications. Do I also need to
perform registry tweaks?

Open Firefox and select Tools/Options/General. In the Default Browser, check
the box and then click the Check Now button.

Hi The Traveler,

http, ftp, .url, .htm, .mht, .sht are the most common types whose association needs to be set correctly. Per my experience, Firefox does not (did not) associate the .URL files with it, ofcourse there may be different versions of this browser.

Moreover, it depends upon how an application launches a website. The may use a ShellExecute function (which inturn calls the file association) or call IExplore.exe directly (which does not need to honor the file associations).
