IE6.0 + NT 4.0 + Dell GX150 = STATIC emitting from system speaker! HELP!

Last night, we just upgraded 200 PCs to IE6.0. On every
Dell GX150 that is running NT4.0 Workstation (w/SP6), we
are now getting a static noise emmitting from the system
speaker.

This starts happening when we launch IE...but doesn't go
if we close the app. It only goes away if we log off or
reboot the machine.

We've tried reinstalling the sound card drivers, but that
didn't help.

Any ideas?

Check for updated bios for these systems. I would advise
upgrading the systems to a supported os as nt 4.0 is dead
