No amount of clicking on the box will open the picture.
Hit counters are often invalid. Perhaps the website has used up
whatever free time they had with that service but never removed
the reference from the page. Or maybe the server is overloaded.
Or maybe they have just turned the feature off (especially if it is
provided by their own server.)
Why not try to find out what the Red-X really mean?
Right-click Properties may be sufficient to find the Address (URL).
(Make sure you do a Select All though to be able to copy the whole thing.)
Another possibility would be to view source and find (e.g.) the img src=
URL which is related to the missing element and then enter that
in the Address bar. If the code uses relative addressing
you might be able to use the Privacy Report (Alt-V,v)
to see what the full URL would be.
If you get DNS not found you will know that the Red-X is valid.
Anything else may give you better clues about the symptom.
(Make sure that Show friendly HTTP error messages is *unchecked*;
otherwise you may miss something the site wants to say about it.)
Because you don't have a referer: (sic) to send with your request
it may not be interpreted exactly the way it would be if the request
was being made on behalf of the web page. That's why I think
the procedure is only partially accurate as a simulation of what
is happening when the web page is being rendered. Nevertheless,
you can get more ideas this way about whether the Red-X is valid or not.
Good luck
