ie won`t open any web page

i have a winxp pc which is part of a domain.the IE6 won`t open any web page although it shows the page`s ip and keeps on saying that it`s connecting to that page.still i can recieve mails on outlook,and my network configuration is fine
i checked the internet explorer options and my lan settings are not contigured
for the record this pc is part of a domain and any other computer is experiencing such behaviour
i would appreciate any feed back on this

Run a check for spyware/viruses first, which may be
interfering with IE. I've recently seen a few similar
posts in the Internet explorer newsgroups. They all
suggest spyware and if this doesn't fix it, it's possibly
a corrupted winsock file. I don't have the fix handy but
there have been several links published in both this and
IE newsgroup.
