I have noticed IE being slow. I built a new computer and everything works
great except IE - when I select a site it typically opens quickly - when I
click on links, they hand up and I often have to refresh - I empty cache and
cookies and history but not helping. I moved my favorite links from my
previous computer - should I have made new connections to the links??

Anybody have any ideas?

Try entering msconfig in the Start => Run box and then run
the IE Repair tool under the Tools menu.

If you aren'y using IE6 SP1, download it from
http://support.microsoft.com/.

And then if you haven't done so already, visit
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and install all of the
critical updates.

To test if it's just your connection that's slow, download
and install the free Mozilla Firefox browser from
http://www.mozilla.org/.

You might prefer using it to using IE. I certainly do.

hi r,

i ran spybot, ad-aware, spysweeper, cwshredder and avg virus software and
followed the steps in 1 and under the first link you posted below.
is there anything else i should try?

i don't have this problem under firefox. i would stop using internet
explorer if firefox worked with roboform, which i really need.

any advise would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

For slowing down problem, maybe not caused by your IE, server busy may
cause data transfer slow. Your ISP may cause a problem, too. So, keep
trying a few hours after to see how it is working.......
