Anyone else having problems with Security Fix 867282 for Internet
Explorer SP1?
After installing this and rebooting, I notice a number of problems:
- Microsoft Update will no longer scan for updates. That is I can click
on the "Scan for Updates" link but nothing happens. This link seems to
want to run javascript and the inactivity looks the same as if I had
javascript turned off in my security settings (I haven't, I checked).
- In Microsoft Update "Installation History" the text area is blank.
- When I open <Add/Remove Programs> I get all the program icons in the
window but no text. (I can't even remove the fix that way.)
- If I do a "Find (on this page)" on a web page I get an error.
There may be other problems .... these are the ones I noticed first.
I restored a backup, checked that it was working correctly then
installed this Security Fix alone and got identical problems so I'm sure
it's this fix that's doing it and it seems to be a "hard" problem on
this machine.
On another Win2K installation (on another machine) the fix installed
without apparent problems.
Any ideas?
