Hello,
My Internet Explorer won't pick up any websites. I know my network is fine
because I can get on messenger. I've tried disabling ad-ons and resetting
explorer, but I still get nothing. Any ideas on how I can get around this?

Thanks,
Jag

Have you tried deleting your temporary files? Click Start > type Internet
Options > hit enter > under "Browsing history" > click "Delete".

Any error messages, what happens when you try to go to a website?

That information is about as useful as a pecker on a priest!

Oh wait a minute, those are pretty usefull these days - Run boys, run!

Yes, I deleted all of my temp files and browsing history as well as forms.

As for the error message, I believe it simply says "Cannot load page" and
gives me options to check my network (I'll double check when I go home). The
message just reappears for any address I type in.

The weirdest part is, when I sign into messenger, an explorer mini window
showing the news and my new emails pops up. When I click on any links on
this window, it opens my browser and I get "Cannot load page" message again.

No, there are spyware that hijack browsers...

If IE is not working but firefox is, then you have found the problem...

EGGHEAD!

Have you tried turning off your firewall and then seeing if you can reach
anything? Also, be sure to check in control panel to be sure the Windows
Firewall is turned off assuming you have a separate firewall. In other
words, all firewalls turned off and check to see if your router has a
firewall that might be blocking access.

I tried and turned off any firewalls i could find. Still nothing. I just
gave up and downloaded firefox and everything works. I think I just may
stick with this for now. Thanks for all of your help Michael.

Activate your Administrator account, boot into it and see if IE works.
Frank

As for as I know, I am using the admin account. I downloaded firefox and it
works, so i think i'll stick with that for a while. Thanks for all your
help.

I have some of the same problem with IE7 and Vista. I can type in a website
address and I'm able to get to that website, however if I google something,
then click on the link. I get this page can not be found or displayed. I
look up at the URL in the address dialog box and it looks fine, however if
there is a www in the address I can go in and take out the www. and leave
the rest of the URL, hit enter and the page comes up, or vice versa if there
is not the www. I add that to the URL and the page comes up. This doesn't
only happen when I google something, it can be ANY link that I click on from
any application, or some website that has a url link. What makes this even
more crazy is that it isn't every time. I have done all the typical trouble
shooting, firewall, getting rid of temp internet files, making sure security
isn't too high, etc.

You said you would use firefox. I've seen this happen in firefox also, not
as bad, but it has happend.

I'll tell you this also..This is a new computer, clean install of Vista Home
Basic. There was a IE add on called Internet Browser Helper. I removed
this add on and that did help out alot, however the problem is still there,
just not as bad and not every time.

Anyone else who has this problem with IE7 and Vista please let me know, and
PLEASE let me know if you have a fix for it. Send me an email at
(e-mail address removed)

Thanks

Really? Administrator account in Vista is by default, disabled. You have
to go to Users/Administrator and enable it, then you can log on as
Administrator.
Just FYI.

You're welcome.

Firefox is a good browser, I'm using it myself on XP at the moment.
