IE/OE not recognising pdf files

If I get an attachment containing a pdf file, OE won't recognise it and my
Adobe Acrobat 7 reader doesn't kick in. However if I copy the file to a
folder on my C drive it works fine. In the same way, if I visit a website on
which there are articles in pdf, I can't read them. I think this has all
happened since I downloaded 7 and uninstalled 4. Any suggestions?

open acrobat reader and look in:

edit
preferecnes
internet

then just check " display .pdf in browser"
 
Thanks for that but when I looked, it was already checked. Anything else
anyone can suggest?
