Anytime I type a url, like microsoft.com, I have to always preceed this with
http:// or I go nowhere.

Any ideas on what made this change? If I do this on a Windows XP machine
with IE7, no issues.

Thanks

Type MICROSOFT into the address box, then press CTRL+Enter, and the www and
..com will be automatically added.

I know how to do that. However that is not the solution to the problem as it
does not work when I type in domain.com/whereever.

I can type microsoft.com into IE 7 or IE8 and just press enter and it adds
the http:// etc no problem.
(Vista Ultimate with SP2)

An alternative option for you is to just type in microsoft and hold
down CTRL as you press return/enter.
IE will add http://www. and the .com to whatever you typed in.

(Vista Ultimate with SP2) ???????????
