IE has encountered a problem and needs to close

I get this message after closing IE6 SP1 running on Windows 98. It pops up about 10-20 seconds after closing IE, than asks to send errror report. This is a new install of IE6. Previous version was IE 5, was forced to install 6 when ugrading to DSL. Did a reinstall from Microsoft site but error still occurs. Any suggestions.

The first step to resolve your problem:
Control Panel | Internet Options | Advanced [tab]
Uncheck: "Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)"
Click Apply\Ok and restart.

Don't forget to re-enable the "3rd browser extensions" option (if used)
Many legit applications use that option also.
